Elsberry Plant Materials CenterEstablished 1934

For almost 70 years, the Elsberry Plant Materials Center has selected plants and developed new planting technologies for areas of Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. The Center has released over 60 improved conservation plants including varieties of sideoats grama, big bluestem, prairie coreopsis, roughleaf dogwood, pale purple coneflower, thickspike gayfeather, tall dropseed and stiff goldenrod, and has developed new technologies for hay and pasture management, native plant establishment, windbreaks and wildlife habitat.
