October 27, 2009 NRCS Restores Natural Prairie Habitat at Bismarck Middle School
Watch this TV news story that shows how NRCS in Bismarck has restored school grounds at Horizon Middle School back to native prairie vegetation saving on maintenance, water, fertilizer, and pesticides required for grass.  The restoration project has also provided an outdoor learning resource where students can study the various native prairie plants, insects, and birds.

July 15, 2009 Refurbishing Waterways in Colorado
The Los Lunas and Upper Colorado Environmental Plant Material Centers along with the Grand Junction NRCS Service Center recently hosted two, one-day Riparian Restoration Workshops.
July 8, 2009 PMC Receives National Recognition
The E. “Kika” de la Garza Plant Materials Center (PMC) in Kingsville recently received the 2008 Plant Materials Certificate of Performance for Technical Document Preparation for the Central Region from the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  This award was presented in recognition of the PMC’s outstanding performance preparing scientific and popular documents in fiscal year 2008.

May 20, 2009 Secretary Vilsack Dedicates National Plant Materials Center In Honor Of Norman A. Berg
Secretary Tom Vilsack recently dedicated the USDA National Plant Materials Center in honor of pioneering conservationist Norman A. Berg who dedicated more than 70 years to the stewardship of working farm and ranch land.
May 13, 2009 Year of the Flood
Flooding at the Elsberry Plant Materials Center (PMC) has become more common than NRCS employees there would like.  PMC employees had about a week notice that flood waters were almost for sure going to top the levees.  Fortunately, the “Cave-in-Rock” switchgrass planted by PMC staff survived the flood.
May 13, 2009 Aberdeen PMC Staff Receives “Outstanding Plant Materials Team” Award
The staff at the Plant Materials Center (PMC) in Aberdeen, Idaho, recently received the “Outstanding Plant Materials Team” award this year for their hard work to meet customer and resource needs. They are always among NRCS’s top producers of high quality foundation seed and technical documents; they provide outstanding technical training and assistance to the Intermountain West.
Apr 22, 2009 Using Farm Bill Programs for Pollinator Conservation Technical Note Released
Technical Note TN.190.B.78 - Using Farm Bill Programs for Pollinator Conservation is now available.  Learn about Farm Bill programs and associated conservation practices that can increase pollinator populations for healthier and more profitable agro-ecosystems. It was developed by the National Plant Data Center in cooperation with The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.
Apr 1, 2009 Florida Plant Materials Center Helps Preserve Sweetgrass
With development pressure along the South Carolina coastline greatly reducing the number sweetgrass stands and endangering the basket weaving tradition in the area, the Charleston Division of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) contacted the NRCS Plant Materials Center (PMC) in Brooksville, Florida, to help preserve sweetgrass germplasm for future generations.
