Appalachian Plant Materials Center

(Moved from Quicksand, KY to Alderson, WV in 1998)
The Appalachian Plant Materials Center provides plant
solutions for the rugged landscape of the southern Appalachian region. The Center provides
technical assistance to stabilize mine lands, protect streambanks and wildlife
habitat, improve hillside pastures, develop permanent cover crops, and protect
the quality of surface and ground water. The Center’s releases of improved
conservation plants include ‘Rhizo’ Kura clover, ‘Gobbler’ sawtooth oak and ‘Quickstand’ bermuda
grass.
